The departmental requirement for speech-language hearing sciences majors is 124 semester hours for the B.A. degree including 37 semester hours in the major area as follows:

SPCH 5 - Phonetics Credits: 3 s.h.
SPCH 6 - Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech Mechanisms Credits: 3 s.h.
SPCH 10 - Multicultural Aspects of Communication and Communication Disorders Credits: 3 s.h.
SPCH 101 - Experimental Psycholinguistics Credits: 3 s.h.
SPCH 102 - Normal Language Development Credits: 3 s.h.
SPCH 103 - Introduction to Speech Science Credits: 3 s.h.
SPCH 131 - Disorders of the Speech Production and Speech Perception Systems Credits: 3 s.h.
SPCH 132 - Disorders of Language in Childhood Credits: 3 s.h.
SPCH 133 - Clinical Methods in Speech, Language and Hearing Disorders I Credits: 2 s.h.
SPCH 134 - Clinical Methods in Speech, Language and Hearing Disorders II Credits: 2 s.h.
SPCH 135 - Communication Disorders of the Neurological System Credits: 3 s.h.
SPCH 137 - Introduction to Audiology Credits: 3 s.h.

Additional Requirements:

In addition to the courses listed above, students must complete, under advisement, the following requirements:

At least 3 semester hours in Biology
At least 3 semester hours in Astronomy or Chemistry Geology or Natural Sciences or Physics.
At least 3 semester hours in Anthropology or Psychology or Sociology. Note: Thesis requirement is separate from the requirement from PSY 140, listed above.
At least 3 semester hours in Mathematics.

Undergraduates may not register for M.A. level courses in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology.
