Accounting, MBA

The MBA in Accounting program prepares students for managerial positions in various types of organizations. The program builds on core business competencies and functional specialization to impart to its students decision analysis skills and a strategic perspective of business problems. This program is not intended to include sufficient course work in accounting and taxation to qualify students for licensure as certified public accountants. Students intending to pursue licensure may need to supplement the program requirements with other accounting, business, legal studies, and tax courses, taken under advisement.

Complete MBA Requirements

In addition to the major concentration listed below, please see the link for all MBA  requirements.

The Major Concentration - Semester Hours: 9

The major concentration enables students to establish a strong base of specialized knowledge in one of the areas of study represented in the Zarb School of Business. This complements the skills in the various functional areas of business, as well as the professional leadership and management orientation.

NOTE

This program is not designed on its own to satisfy licensure requirements in New York state. Accounting students who have a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in a field other than accounting or business administration who want to supplement this program with additional courses to become eligible to take the New York state CPA examination should refer to the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education - Registration of Curricula, Part 52.13 Accountancy and speak with an adviser in the Department of Accounting  regarding appropriate additional course work.
