Minor Requirements - Total Semester Hours: 18

The concentration in Latin American and Caribbean Studies consists of the completion of a total of 18 s.h. distributed as follows:

1. Language Requirement

The student must fulfill the University language requirement in Spanish, Portuguese, or French, or demonstrate equivalent competency (through transfer credit, or placement test, or other) in one of those languages.

3. Elective and Comparative Courses - Semester Hours: 6

6 s.h. of elective or comparative courses listed, with no more than 3 s.h. in comparative courses.

Note: In addition to the courses listed below under Elective Courses or Comparative Courses, special topics courses (e.g., HIST 177 A-G , GEOG 106 , MASS 180 to 189 A-Z , PSC 154 A-Z , SPAN 180 A-Z ),  Honors College Seminars, and independent studies/readings may be included in the major or minor when covering Latin American and Caribbean themes, pending approval of program director(s).
