The BA major in Writing Studies focuses on the way writing works to make meaning and to persuade, with emphasis on the following areas of study:  Professional Writing, Composition and Rhetoric, and Digital Rhetoric. The Writing Studies major provides instruction in effective composition for both academic and professional settings. Students can engage in primary undergraduate research, internships, and/or writing center experience. To this end, students will create written texts and may craft multimedia productions that incorporate image, sound, and video.

The Writing Studies major easily complements a variety of other majors, preparing students for careers that value clear and effective communication skills. Students with a major in Writing Studies will also be well equipped for graduate or professional study in fields such as business, law, education, and other writing-intensive disciplines.
