Accounting - 120, BBA Major in

This program qualifies students for general accounting careers in business but does not fully satisfy the educational requirements for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York State.  New York and most other states require 150 semester hours of coursework for licensure as a CPA.  Students intending to pursue careers in public accounting are advised to consider one of the three options offered through our BBA Major in Accounting (Licensure) program.  Please see the program’s bulletin page for more information about the Accounting - 150, BBA Major in  (Licensure) track.

Majors in accounting must have an overall grade point average of 2.0 in accounting coursework at Hofstra.  In addition, they must have a C- or better in ACCT 101 , 102 , 123 , and 124 , whether taken at Hofstra or transferred in from another institution.  Otherwise, these accounting courses must be retaken at Hofstra since no waivers will be granted.

The major requirements are ACCT 123 , 124 , 125 , 131 , 133 ,139 , 140 143 , 144 ; LEGL 024 , IT 131 , and electives are chosen under advisement.  Students enrolled in this program will automatically earn a concentration in Digital Accounting Technology upon completing the following five courses: IT 001  and IT 015  (business core), ACCT 139 , ACCT 140 , and IT 131  (major courses).

Complete BBA Requirements


Students must complete all the BBA Requirements , including LEGL 020 .
