ENGL 179A - Book Design, Desktop Publishing, and ProductionSemester Hours: 3 Fall
This course will explore the fundamentals of book design, production, and manufacturing, including aesthetics and economic considerations. Type selection, page design, materials selection, and manufacturing processes are discussed. Includes basic hands-on instruction in the use of desktop publishing and image processing software fundamental to modern book publishing workflows. Design and production of sample materials are required as part of the course and of the final examination.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: No liberal arts credit. Credit given for this course or ENGL 197V, not both. (Formerly 178D, Desktop Publishing for Book Publishing.)
