PSY 001 - Introduction to PsychologySemester Hours: 3-4 Fall, Spring, Summer
The central goal of this course is to provide a general introduction to the field of psychology. Students will learn
how to reason about human behavior, how to think critically about science, and how to apply psychological theory
and findings to everyday problems and issues. Topics covered will include psychological methods, biological
bases of behavior, sensation and perception, learning, memory, personality, psychopathology, and social behavior.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Prerequisite for all other psychology courses except PSY 7, 25 and 27. Credit given for this course or New College SPB1, not both. Four-s.h. sections open only to first-year students enrolled in the FYC program.
