Program Requirements - Total Hours: 32

A total of 32 semester hours in sociology is required for the major. The following four courses are required of all majors, preferably in sequence:

• SOC 004 - (BH) Contemporary Society Semester Hours: 3
• SOC 018 - (BH) Social Theory and Social Issues Semester Hours: 3
• SOC 180 - Statistics in Sociology Semester Hours: 4
• SOC 181 - Research Methods in Sociology Semester Hours: 4

Notes:

It is recommended that all sociology majors take the sociology section of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) before graduation. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required for the 32 s.h. of sociology. Required sociology courses in which a grade of D is obtained will usually not be counted toward the 32 s.h. in sociology.
