Program Requirements


Mathematics courses including MATH 071 , 072 073 , 100 , 114 , 135A , 145 171 , 138  or 146  or 172  or 173 , 12 additional s.h. of advanced mathematics numbered above 100, excluding MATH 185, chosen under advisement, and PHYS 011A  and 011B . MATH 100  should be taken during the fall semester of one’s senior year. CSC 015  is also strongly recommended. Students completing an honors thesis in mathematics are exempt for the MATH 100  requirement.  PHYS 011A /011B  fulfills the distribution requirement in the category of natural sciences. Mathematics majors are advised to take at least one course in computer science at or above the level of CSC 015. All mathematics courses presented toward the fulfillment of the degree must be completed with a minimum grade of C- with the exception of MATH 100  which is graded on a Pass/D+/D/Fail basis and must be passed.
